Security Camera Installation Across The Gold Coast

Whether it is a family home in Pacific Pines, a canal-front property at Broadbeach Waters, a retail shop on the Esplanade or a light-industrial unit at Yatala, we design the system around your property rather than selling you a box off a shelf. Every new installation includes a free Power Back-Up Module worth $149, so your cameras keep recording through a blackout.

Protec has been installing security systems out of Brisbane since 2018 and has serviced the Gold Coast corridor throughout. Our technicians are individually licensed for both security and cabling work, hold blue cards, and are Cert III qualified or above.

Built For Gold Coast Conditions

The coast is hard on equipment. Cheap cameras fail here within a couple of seasons.

Salt Air And Humidity

Weather-rated housings and corrosion-resistant mounts for beachside and canal properties, where standard hardware pits and fails early.

Apartments And Duplexes

Shared entries, basement car parks and body-corporate rules on cabling. We work through the restrictions before anything is drilled.

Glare And Harsh Light

Cameras positioned so reflection off water and light render does not wash out the image at the exact hours that matter most.

How The Installation Works

Five stages, and you know the price before stage three.

  1. Site AssessmentWe walk the property with you, map approach routes, entry points and blind spots, and agree what actually needs covering.
  2. Fixed Written QuoteYou get a fixed price and a camera plan before anything is ordered. No variations unless you change the scope.
  3. InstallationLicensed technicians mount, cable and commission the system. Cabling is concealed and tidy, and we clean up after ourselves.
  4. Setup And HandoverRecorder secured with your own credentials, phone app configured and tested, and a walkthrough so everyone who needs it can use the system.
  5. Ongoing SupportFree 24/7 remote support, automatic firmware and security updates, and 24/7 on-site emergency call-outs if something fails.

What Affects The Cost

We quote fixed prices after an on-site assessment. These are the factors that move the number, so you can see where your money goes before you speak to anyone.

Camera count and placementThe single biggest driver. Four to six cameras covers most homes properly.
Cable runs and accessSingle-storey with roof access is straightforward. Double-storey, rendered walls or concrete take longer.
Resolution and night performanceHigher resolution and better low-light sensors cost more but are what make footage actually identifiable.
Recording retentionTwo weeks or thirty days changes the recorder and storage you need.
Property typeBody-corporate and commercial sites need extra coordination, permits or after-hours work.
Upgrade or new installIf existing cabling is sound we can often reuse it, which brings the cost down considerably.

Choosing The Right System

The three decisions that matter most, explained plainly.

DecisionWhat we usually recommendWhen the other option makes sense
Wired vs wirelessWired. It carries power and data, does not drop out, and is not competing with your wi-fi.Wireless for outbuildings, heritage properties or where cabling is genuinely impractical. It still needs power at the camera.
IP vs analogueIP. Far higher resolution, better digital zoom into recorded footage, and easier to expand later.Analogue if you have sound existing coax and want a budget upgrade without recabling.
Local vs cloud recordingLocal recording to an on-site recorder. No subscription, no upload bottleneck, and footage stays yours.Cloud where the recorder itself could be stolen and off-site copies matter more than running cost.

Who We Install For

  • HomesHouses, duplexes, canal-front and acreage properties.
  • ApartmentsBody-corporate common areas, entries and basement car parks.
  • RetailShopfronts, till areas, stockrooms and loading docks.
  • OfficesEntry control, reception and after-hours coverage.
  • WarehousesYard, perimeter, dock and high-bay coverage.
  • ConstructionSite security, plant and materials protection.

What You Get

  • Identifiable FootageClear night vision so you get faces and plates, not a grey shape.
  • View From AnywhereLive and recorded footage on your phone, wherever you are.
  • Retention That SuitsRecording history set to match your property and your insurer.
  • 24/7 Remote SupportMost issues resolved without waiting for a technician on site.
  • Automatic UpdatesFirmware and security patches applied without a truck roll.
  • Free Back-Up ModuleA $149 power back-up included with every new install.

To be clear about what this is: our secure remote server gives you technical support and automatic firmware updates. It is not a watched camera feed. If you want 24/7 back-to-base alarm monitoring, we do provide that as part of our alarm systems.

Professional Installation Is The Whole Job

Most of the bad CCTV we get called out to fix is not bad hardware, it is bad placement. Cameras aimed at the sky. A blind spot over the exact gate someone walked through. A recorder still on its factory password.

We walk the property first, map the approach routes and sight lines, then mount and cable to suit. Every recorder leaves with your own credentials on it, not defaults, because an unsecured recorder is a way into your network.

Every Installation Includes

  • On-site assessment before any quote
  • Camera placement mapped to entry points
  • Tidy, concealed cabling
  • Recorder secured and passworded properly
  • Phone app set up and tested with you
  • Handover walkthrough so you can actually use it

Common Questions

How much does CCTV installation cost on the Gold Coast?
There is no single figure, because cost is driven by camera count, cable runs, whether the property is single or multi-storey, and how much recording history you want to keep. We assess on site and quote a fixed price before any work starts, so the number you are given is the number you pay. Call 1300 373 805 for a free, no-obligation quote.
How many cameras do I actually need?
Most homes are covered properly by four to six cameras: front entry, rear entry, driveway or garage, and the side access that people forget about. Businesses depend on entry points, till or stock areas and yard access. More cameras is not automatically better. Correct placement of fewer cameras beats a large number of badly aimed ones.
Do you monitor the cameras for me?
Not the cameras themselves, no. Your CCTV records locally and you view it from your phone, and we provide 24/7 technical support and automatic security updates. If you want a monitored security service, we offer 24/7 back-to-base alarm monitoring through an Australian monitoring centre as part of our alarm systems.
Will the cameras survive being near the beach?
The ones we specify will. We use weather-rated housings and corrosion-resistant mounts on coastal and canal properties. Standard big-box hardware generally pits and fails within a couple of seasons in Gold Coast salt air.
Wired or wireless cameras, which is better?
Wired is more reliable and is what we recommend wherever cable can be run, because it carries both power and data and does not drop out. Wireless is useful for outbuildings, heritage properties or anywhere cabling is genuinely impractical, but it still needs power at the camera and depends on your wi-fi holding up.
How long is footage kept?
That depends on the recorder size, camera count and resolution. Two to four weeks is typical for a home. Businesses and anyone with insurer requirements often want 30 days or more. We size the recorder to the retention you actually need rather than guessing.
Can you work on an apartment or body-corporate property?
Yes. We deal with shared entries, basement car parks and cabling restrictions regularly, and we work through what the body corporate allows before quoting.
Can you upgrade or repair my existing system?
Often yes. If the existing cabling is sound we can frequently reuse it and upgrade the cameras and recorder, which is usually cheaper than starting again. We assess what is there before recommending either way.
What warranty comes with the work?
A 12-month comprehensive warranty, a minimum three-year parts warranty and a five-year workmanship warranty, with extended options available.
How quickly can you get out to me?
We aim to call back within four hours during business hours to book your assessment. We also run 24/7 on-site emergency call-outs for existing customers whose systems have gone down.
